Overhead monorails, or electric suspension monorails, deliver flexible materials handling with a clear floor in cyclical operations. Whether it's distribution logistics in the food, drink and tobacco sector, or production-based solutions in the dairy industry, monorails make many solutions possible, including supplying raw materials, linking up production, buffer and storage processes, and delivering pallets to dispatch.
In complex solutions, one single vehicle often handles many different tasks. For example, after a vehicle sets down a pallet of finished goods in the dispatch area, it can take raw materials from the warehouse to the production area on its way back. These systems are also highly tolerant of system failure and faults and, above all, they can respond flexibly to changing load levels. Special applications can also deal with extreme variations in height. For example, raising and lowering operations of up to five meters can be achieved with telescopic devices. The transfer to floor-based conveyor systems can be eliminated, thus saving expensive floor space.
